A Sensible Cause Makes Scents

The Six Scents Fragrance Initiative reaches beyond sensory enlightenment by giving back to those in need. Born from a collaboration between fragrance supplier Symrise and creative consultancy Metaproject, the Initiative is an annual and ongoing charity-based project that brings together six perfumers and artists to create limited edition, original fragrances.

This year's round up, titled Six Scents Series One and curated by Seven New York's Joseph Quartana, includes Gareth Pugh's "Diagonal," Bernhard Willhelm's "Wicken 3000," Preen's "Teen Spirit," Jeremy Scott's "Illicit Sex," Cosmic Wonder Light Source's "Spirit of the Wood" and Alexandre Herchcovitch's "Urban Tropicalia." Mixing a wide range of masculine and feminine scents, notes of bergamot, red pepper berries, magnolia, rose, taget and musk are just some of the ingredients used in the varied collections.

Championing the AIDS epidemic this season, a percentage of the Series One profits will go towards awareness and funding for Designers Against AIDS' International AIDS Awareness Center set to open in December in Antwerp, Belgium. With only 2,000 bottles of each scent, the limited edition fragrances come with an individually numbered and signed edition card to ensure each bottle is one of a kind. Snag one, or all six, at global retailers such as Seoul's 10 Corso Como, Sydney's Blonde Venus, Paris' Colette or New York's Seven to show your support of this worthy cause. Generosity has never smelled so sweet.
