El Delgado Buil Brings Springtime Cheer
November 18th, 2008 | Barcelona
Leading the pack of young and creative casualwear labels in Spain, Barcelona-based El Delgado Buil has a spring/summer '09 collection that will leave you ready for the first sign of crocus heads and Easter egg hunts.Titled, "Porcelana," the designs take inspiration from the world of porcelain—soft pastels in pink and purple pop from behind urban black jackets and denim, drawing the collection back to its streetwear roots. The brand's printmaking trademark includes silk tanks and a flowing skirt with button detailing, each of which are adorned with images of flowers. The menswear denim pants and jackets are bleached with a special wash that take masculine femininity to a whole new level, reminding us that this surprising collection is as kitschy as it is wearable.
Anna Figuera Delgado and Macarena Ramos Buil have shaken up the Barcelona fashion scene for the past seven seasons with their fresh take on casualwear. Located in the Gothic area, the duo started out making menswear and eventually branched out into womenswear due to their garments' crossover appeal. Both women hail from the Superior School of Design and won the L'Oreal Award for Best Young Designer's Collection at the prestigious Cibeles fashion show two years in a row. The duo has big plans for future collaborations (they have already collaborated with Sony PSP for the past three seasons) and for expanding their brand to retailers worldwide—you can currently find the label in Madrid, Santiago de Compostela and Melbourne. El Delgado Buil is a hot ticket on the rise, bringing some seriously needed design cred to their country.
