The New Age Of Accessories: Part I
A red sole is no longer enough to make a statement shoe. Now your feet aren't worth walking on if they aren't clad in their own miniature sculpture—from Dior's carved tribal heels to Proenza Schouler's steely, architectural platforms. Similarly, spring's status bags have traded their logos and hardware for luxurious simplicity—the better to show off the season's coveted craftsmanship and timelessness. Jewelry, too, has moved beyond the confines of bling, giving a nod to the costume jewelry of yesteryear and all of its flamboyance, craftiness and wit.
For the next few weeks, we'll closely look at the two categories that are undergoing the biggest renaissance, jewelry and shoes. But first, we've decided to examine the medium by which their meteoric rise is being charted: the accessories press.

YSL, Celine, Hermès
I've decided that I hate this YSL shoe. I hate the shape of it, I hate the heel shape with that weird little bottom, I hate all the textures/colours it comes in. I hate seeing it every where, yet I keep taking photos of it. It's a hate photo, if such a thing exists. read more »
Video: Margiela is a Thriller!
Those of a certain era remember Michael Jackson's 1982 stellar "best selling album of all time" Thriller. The impact of this album, and the title track still has me shivering in my YSL brogues. read more »
Cage Not Fall
The boots at YSL were a major situation. Makes for an interesting head to toe finish for all of the eastern-influenced architectural styles that we're seeing. They had the nerve to make the heel a cage as well! Can you even get over it?

The BG mens display had me thinking "Where did they find all of these incredibly wooden objects?" You know a display is overpowering when you ignore the clothes and focus on the decorations instead. And even thought I'm insanely biased to Tom Ford, his suit was the only one that stopped me in my tracks and I checked out before I even read that it was Tom Ford. He's definitely carved out his own style for suits, or maybe my Tom Ford love radar is out of control. [Also I loved the Chanel logo reflection from the womens store in some of the images.]

We shot a few of our Autumn favorites worn by show-goers this Paris Fashion Week. Girls and guys everywhere stride your way through the coming season in a pair of new (shoe) boots, and pay a little attention to the crop of those pants.

"I love the non-aggressive '80s looks in Albino's spring/summer '09 collection, particularly one of the deep plunging jumpsuits. Veronique Branquinho's collection was also sublime...." read more »
Turned Out Style Report
With so many wonderful pairs of pants to choose from this season, it's pretty exciting picking which ones to buy. We're thinking a little loose on top tapering perfectly above the ankle; fitted, long and lean; or over washed, soft and skinny denim. Here, we find miss Rubik a few options to work with her Ralph Lauren giant plaid jacket.
Clockwise from top right:
A: Cardigan, Ralph Lauren Collection; Tie Dye Jean, Dsquared²
B: Sweatshirt, Eric Bompard; Jeans, American Apparel; Boots, Rick Owens; Satchel YSL 'Besace'
C: Pants, Jil Sander read more »
