Palais Royal: Paris' New Shopping Mecca

Stella McCartney at Palais Royal
Palais Royal is not big, but some of the capital's chicest names are squashed into its few square meters, making it a buzzing and exquisite address for brands who prize discrete and attentive service. We've been keeping a keen eye on Palais Royal as it attracts select luxury brands into its limited space, while steadily building a loyal and growing number of chic city shoppers. The shopping haven even recently welcomed Stella McCartney's first Paris store and Mary Beyer's made-to-measure glove boutique.

The Many Talents Of Stephen Galloway

Approximate Sonata, costumes by Stephen Galloway
Art and fashion fusions are nothing new, but rarely do the two worlds collide so forcefully as they do in Stephen Galloway. The American-born talent has performed with and created costumes for the world's most elite dance and opera companies; provided art direction for the likes of Issey Miyake and Yves Saint Laurent; choreographed a Rolling Stones world tour; and consulted with photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin on projects from Vogue editorials to Gucci ad campaigns. JC Report recently caught up with Amusement's founder and editor-in-chief, Abdel Bounane, in Paris to talk about his background, what led him to create the magazine and his strategic plans for the future.

JC Report: How did you come up with the idea for Amusement?

Abdel Bounane: Playing video games has become a mass pleasure, but classic video and technology magazines tend to address solely teenagers. Their tone, artistic direction and editorial line hasn't really changed since the '80s when video games were just a pastime for kids.  read more »
